Michigan's Michael Carrizosa missed a 21-yard field-goal attempt off the left upright as time expired, allowing the Philadelphia Stars to escape with a 26-25 victory over the Panthers on Friday in Birmingham, Ala.

On the final drive, the Panthers moved 47 yards on 12 plays, getting the ball to the 3-yard line before calling timeout with three seconds to play. They sent on Carrizosa, but he couldn't deliver the winning kick.
